A historic moment in Lumbini

For the very first time in history, on the auspicious day of Lha Bab Düchen—among the four most sacred days in the Buddhist calendar—the Buddha’s words were recited aloud together in Tibetan, Pali, Chinese, and English in Lumbini, united in one voice, one intention, and one lineage of wisdom.

This video captures the opening day of this extraordinary event. In the early morning, monastics from numerous countries, together with lay practitioners from around the world, came together to circumambulate the Mayadevi Temple, the birthplace of the Buddha.
From there, they advanced in a flowing procession of prayers and chanting toward the Thousand Buddha Temple, where the joint recitations began.

Rinpoche reminded everyone that followers of all Buddhist traditions share the same Teacher, the Buddha, and that we are fundamentally one sangha. The Thousand Buddha Temple, he emphasized, does not belong to any group or lineage. It belongs to the world. It is a place for all who practice the Dharma to meet, study, discuss and practice in harmony.
May these moments of unity bring inspiration and benefit to beings everywhere.
