Lhabab Düchen, November 11th, 2025, marks the one-year anniversary of the inauguration of the Thousand Buddha Temple in Lumbini, Nepal, birthplace of the Buddha Śakyamuni. To celebrate this auspicious anniversary, there will be a recitation of the words of the Buddha in Pali, Chinese, Tibetan, English and other languages into which these wisdom texts have been translated. These precious teachings are not only for Buddhist followers but are a world heritage belonging to everyone. The wisdom of the Buddha is especially relevant in the 21st century because science matches well with this timeless insight and together they can meet the challenges of our times. A great gathering devoted to reading aloud the Buddha’s teachings of wisdom and compassion illuminates our world and brings peace and insight to all.

The recitation of the Buddha’s Words will be held in conjunction with the 45th Annual Seminar by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, and will begin on Lhabab Düchen, November 11th, and conclude on November 17th. This year’s seminar topic is “A Presentation of the Three Vehicles: View, Meditation, Conduct and Fruition.” Following the seminar, Rinpoche will bestow the outer, inner and secret Tara Empowerments and give teachings from November 18-20 as the first part of the annual Tara’s Triple Excellence Retreat. The second part, November 21-27, will be a one-week practice retreat led by Drubpön Lama Tenzin Sangpo focused particularly on the preliminary practices.

We hope you can come to Lumbini in person for these sacred events and precious teachings. We will do our best to live-stream the recitation of the Buddha’s Words and the 45th Annual Seminar as much as possible, so you can join us from wherever you are!
